Rockin’ Raw Chocolate Mousse

by Erin Huggins on August 19, 2009

Last night while doing some research on raw food, raw cacao, and all things raw, I came across a recipe for raw chocolate pudding. While it sounded delish, I decided I could make it better and added my own coconut twist – you know how I love me some coconuts!! I ended up with a raw chocolate mousse that was so awesome it deserved it’s own blog post.

Here’s the recipe for Rockin’ Raw Chocolate Mousse

2 avocados sliced
1/4 cup organic raw cacao powder
1/4 cup agave nectar
2 T vanilla extract
1/4 cup unsweetened coconut milk
1 T coconut oil

Mix all ingredients except coconut milk in a blender or a bowl. Gradually add in the coconut milk to the consistency you prefer. You may also use less agave nectar as it did turn out pretty sweet.

To the right is a picture of the real deal. As you can see it’s not green and no it doesn’t taste like guacamole! The avocados are completely masked by the cacao powder. I couldn’t believe it myself. I was all set to take a bite of chocolate flavored guacamole. Nope. Instead it was decadent, rich, chocolate moussey goodness! Enjoy!

I love your addition of coconut milk. I usually add some almond milk to mine, to give it that extra “chocolate milk pudding” feel/taste. :)

Your bowl is so cute too!

Erin – I just started experimenting with raw cacao and I love coconut anything, so I’ll definitely try this out this weekend! Looks yummy!

This sounds wonderful! I’m going to head up to the natural foods store and buy some raw cacao powder, coconut milk and oil.

I’ve heard of making chocolate pudding with avocado. Sounds like a really healthy alternative. It’s what’s for dessert tonight. :)

Thanks! And I love your website.
